If you do the manual tilt adjustment youmay be able to gain up to a foot of playing space. Tilt the Kinect down as far as possible while still seeing all of your head. The default viewing angle requires more playing space.
Also place the Kinect at eye level to gain max. playing space. The Kinect Sensor can detect you better this way.
